After meeting with a couple of builders, we decided to go with Platinum Restoration.  While they are known for their fire, smoke, flood, mold remediation services (think - your basement floods, they dry it out, and rebuild it like it was before), I felt they were the perfect company to do our basement.  Aside from having firsthand experience with many different kinds of basements, I was impressed by their craftsmanship and attention-to-detail.

The quote/contract process was extremely thorough.  Based on the architectural drawings we provided, the quoting software they use breaks out everything - and I mean everything (down to the wax ring closet gasket).  Knowing this was going be a significant investment for us, it was great to be able to clearly see where we had to cut back.

Kevin G. was our project manager and made the entire process very easy.  We were very new to remodeling/construction and very novice in our understanding of the whole process.  He met with us to go through the plans and brought recommendations that we never would have thought of.  He was always accommodating to our changes (and indecisiveness) and was a constant presence at our house.  He ran a tight ship, and we were amazed at how clean and organized they kept everything.  He even had all the contractors come in and out of the egress window.  Not something we asked for, but it was nice not having to mop up footprints every day.  Sure, it got dusty during drywall, but they brought an air scrubber to minimize the dust on the upstairs floors.

Robert and John were the main carpenters on the project.  They were amazing.  They were constantly looking for better/smarter ways to do things.  They are also genuinely nice people.  Once the project was finished, we commented about how we were going to miss them (although we have other projects in the coming years that I am sure they will be back).

All of the tradesmen that Platinum Restoration brought in were top-notch.  Always on-time and, again, the quality of the work is excellent.  We couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.

Kevin, the work John did last week was outstanding and exceeded our expectations. Thanks for putting all this together for us. ...Platinum Restoration worked two (2) full days last week, Thursday and Friday completing the refinishing of our closet. Their work was impeccable. We are fully satisfied with the quality of their workmanship and approach to this restoration. As previously mentioned, they utilize the most advanced equipment available for the mold remediation portion of the work involved (all new equipment that they fully own) and the construction group that they partner with are of the highest quality. It is my opinion that if any other unit suffers water damage in the future and mold is involved that the board use Platinum as they are highly experienced in this field. If you are able to ever recommend Platinum to the other seven (7) buildings here in our complex to those separate association Presidents, you can be assured that they would be getting the best in the business here in Chicago.

Platinum Restoration's Manager surveyed the basement, and gave a firm price, which we agreed to. And that was exactly what we paid.
The entire crew, when they arrived, went right to work, and work, they did!  I have ever seen such a work ethic, and energy.  ALL the long day, they carefully removed all the furniture and All the other items in the basement. The project manager called for, and had delivered a "pod-type" container to store the basement items and keep them safe and dry.  Every manager and all, each of the crew, besides  being extremely hard-working, were professional, clearly communicated, kept updating the progress of the project, and thorough in every step, took gentle care of our belongings.

Not only was our basement totally cleared, but it was finished, completely clean, and neat.  I would ABSOLUTELY hire Platinum Restoration again, and recommend them to our friends and family.

In fact, we may hire them, perhaps as soon as next week, to complete the finishing work, too, since a family contact we made arrangements with to to restore/re-finish the basement, back in early June, so far, more than a month behind, late in coming to do the work, and we know that Platinum Restoration will do wonderful quality work.

Our home had a minor flood in our upstairs bath, but enough to cause ceiling damage to the first floor as well. My first call was to Kevin at Platinum Restoration. They arrived within the hour to assess the damage to bathroom and dining room ceiling, and our insurance adjustor arrived soon after. Kevin gladly worked with our adjustor, and had a demo crew out the same day. Every person who came to our home during the demo, drying-out, cleanup, and repair process was friendly and courteous, professional, and arrived on time. They were very trustworthy and actually set up a lock box so I did not have to be home each time. Kevin & Rob regularly communicated with our insurance adjustor and saved me many phone calls. During a very stressful time, the guys at Platinum made everything as pleasant as possible.
