A Year to Come…
As 2009 wraps up, we are bearing down for a cold winter. And a slower than average storm season has given us the chance to take advantage of some continuing education and advanced certifications. We have purchased more brand new equipment, including a thermal camera that we can’t wait to use! We have been enlightened to new uses of the camera and can serve to be very useful to plumbers who are chasing a pipe break. Needless to say, we are putting the word out to the trades in addition to insurance professionals.

So we will sail right into the next year at our highest level of preparedness. And we are setting out to achieve a clear goal; be a Restoration Industry Leader in the Chicagoland area. How are we going to do that? Simple. Provide a better service to your insured’s, help reduce indemnity payouts, and assist in closing claims as fast as possible! We think that if you believe providing a better service to the insured’s who choose your company is a good thing, than you will want to see us on your claims.

Continuing education and advanced certifications:
Fire and Smoke Technician – Kris and Mike attended this IICRC course last month at JonDon. This course does a great job of educating thousands of us in the basics of the science and theory of fire damage restoration. This is our prerequisite course that all techs must have in order to attend the RIA’s contents course.

Carpet Cleaning Technician – Kris and Mike also attended this course at JonDon this month, which is becoming their work away from work. They are both better carpet cleaners now having taken the class which strengthened their knowledge base about commercial and residential carpet cleaning.

Water Restoration Technician – This is the class they were all waiting for. Unfortunately Kris could not attend, and Kevin was happy to jump in his seat. Mike and Kevin attended one of the best drying courses available at, you guessed it, JonDon. Needless to say, everybody is ready to put this training to use.

Certified Restorer – Tom completed the week long school in November and recently received notification from the RIA that he passed the exam with a 92%! This was the second highest grade in the class and allows him to submit a formal report, which is the last step in becoming a Certified Restorer. Considering that there are approximately 450 current CR’s in the world, this is a major accomplishment for Tom and the company. Way to go!!

Upcoming events and accomplishments:
Company Christmas Party!
Platinum Restoration plans to attend the RIA annual conference in March
Western Loss Christmas Party
Tom will submit a formal report to the RIA for a counsel review and approval process. This is the final step in being awarded the Certified Restorer designation
Kris will attend a water restoration class in January
